HATHA YOGA

YOGA is a very ancient practice. Its roots are mainly in India although evidence exists of similar practices in other parts of the ancient world. HATHA YOGA is the Yoga of postures. The Yoga I teach does not have a name but is an ancient practice passed down through generations of Indian people and retains the eastern philosophy of Body/mind/spirit union

YOGA means to yoke, union or to link. HATHA means Moon Sun.

Hatha Yoga therefore links body/mind/spirit, balances female/male, Yin/Yang energies centring the body, bringing peace, stillness, harmony to our whole being, strengthening and nurturing on every level.

PRACTICE: Relaxation and breathing techniques are practised to release tensions enabling us to let go of unwanted baggage creating lightness within our practice.

We journey on the breath, gently, slowly, allowing it to open us into the postures to deepen our practice. This enables us to link to the subtle flow of the posture. We flow with love for ourselves, accepting ourselves as we are at this moment, listening to our intuition and the intelligence of the body allowing change to occur.

To understand the suble anatomy we learn about Chakas, Aura, Meridans and Nadis parts of us we have lost touch with. Reconnecting to the subtle flow of energy brings balance on the deeper level or our being harmonising with the physical, energising and healing.

EFFECTS: The physical body responds by stretching, straightening, opening and becoming more supple as the spine comes into alignment creating well being.

Yoga is self empowering. We come to know ourselves, love ourselves more deeply helping us in our journey through life.
